Wits, Words and Wisdom - the making of Fleet Street
Fleet Street and its surrounding alleyways and courtyards for centuries has been home to writers and printers.
They gathered here to publish the books, newspapers and pamphlets which enthralled the gossip obsessed Londoners and the country. We will take in the area which once shook every evening with the now silenced printing presses.
We will meet those who made the news both figuratively and literally, discover their homes, their buildings, a cat, a bird, and places of worship from pubs to churches as we explore the street of truth and shame.
